Standard 6: Instructional Planning
-The teacher plans instruction to support students in meeting rigorous learning goals by drawing upon knowledge of content areas, Utah Core Standards, instructional best practices, and the community context.
I meet weekly with my grade level team to plan instruction, design common formative assessments, plan for academic interventions, seek counsel for struggling students, and share ideas and thoughts for how to improve overall engagement and instruction. I plan curriculum one week at a time to ensure I do not move on with a concept before my students understand it. I use the knowledge of my team, results of previous assessments, and knowledge of student strengths and weaknesses to help me predict what lessons will occur for 1-2 weeks. I plan for spiraling reviews in all content areas and multiple opportunities to practice all content areas.
